    Fundraiser's

Fundraising activities are an essential part of OLPH’s endeavor to keep tuition rates at a minimum. The cost of educating each child is deferred by these communal activities. Thus, it is vitally important that each parent/guardian realizes his/her responsibility to cooperate with and participate in these activities. If families do not wish to support fundraising activities, the loss of income will cause a substantial increase in each family’s tuition rate.

Mandatory participation is required of OLPH families for annual fundraising events. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Bishops’ Car Raffle
  • Halloween Walk-A-Thon
  • Fall Carnival
  • Nite-at-the-Races Fundraiser
  • Spring Fundraiser (cash-drawing giveaway)

OLPH presents the Second Annual “Nite @ the Races Event
“Never Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth?”

Quite the opposite was true.

On May 16, 2009, family and friends of OLPH “corralled” together giggling and
mingling --- and placing their bets --- in what turned out to be the most
successful OLPH fundraiser ever.

It was an evening not to forget at the Heritage Palms Country Club in Indio. With
their racing forms in hand, carefully combing the entries --- participants placed
their bets on 10 professional races – 12 horses for each race. At the sound of
the bell, the horses were off! …. and so was the crowd – standing and cheering
at the Gigantic Video Screen which ended with screams of delight from those
“oh-so-lucky” winners. (Better luck next time, Fr. Miguel….)

Throughout the evening, hardly anyone ended up a loser --- but a winner ---
given the magnificent number of Silent Auction Items, gift baskets, raffle prizes,
50/50 drawing, Live Auction….and not to forget the sumptuous Italian buffet.

Parents were “bet runners” clad in black and white. Energetic Erika Arias served
as the bright MC, Tom Brown manned the video player secretly, teachers cajoled the losers --- everyone pitched in --- even our fine OLPH students -- each grade assembling a Gigantic “themed” gift basket for the Silent auction. All in all there were almost 100 donations made. The grand prize was a 42 inch HDTV plasma TV won by the lucky Principal’s First Man himself -- Patrick Arias. (His late nights alone paid off……)

Everyone left tickled and overjoyed! because at this memorable event -- the Gift
horse turned out to be genuine and generous. See you next year……

    Parents' Club

The Parents’ Club is an organization consisting of all parents and/or guardians whose children are enrolled in Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. The group has three main functions:

  • Plan and organize fundraising events to financially support the school
  • Provide an avenue of communication between parents, administration, and the school board
  • Support the rules, regulations, and operation of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School

Parents' Club meetings are held four times per year and it is mandatory that at least one parent from each family attend each time. At the first meeting, the principal will review school policies, programs, procedures, and introduce any new items for the year for new and returning members. Additional details are in the Parent/Student Handbook.

    Student Attendance Policy

State law requires regular student attendance for classes in school unless excused for a valid reason; this is defined by diocesan policies #5111-5113 and local school policy. Elementary-school students, who are absent 20 or more days per semester (or more than 13 days per trimester) without a doctor’s excuse or other comparable professional excuse, may be asked to withdraw from school or be retained. The final decision rests with the principal in all cases. Students are expected to be on campus from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Students may not leave the campus for any reason without written authorization from parent/guardian.
